He’s shot films for Porsche, Hyundai, Ford, US Army, and Delta Airlines, to name a few. He's also an avid sports fan, and relishes every opportunity to shoot baseball and racing. Sam Ciaramitaro has an action-packed reel, but as an interview guest, he’s thoughtful, reflective, and humbled by the fact that the more you learn, the more there is left to learn.
His recent work ranges from a racing film for Porsche featuring Angels pitcher-turned-driver CJ Wilson, to an avant garde piece for Fashion Week in Paris. So, it’s not surprising that our conversation spans a number of topics, from Sam’s lower middle class childhood in Detroit, and his early attempts at (and eventual success with) directing, to his take on the perspective of young consumers today.
For example, Sam did four years of US Army campaigns, interviewing young soldiers across a diverse demographic. In the wake of the massacre in Parkland, FL, he finds it noteworthy that the Army required four weeks of basic training before putting a weapon in the hands of young soldiers. You can draw your own conclusions about how that squares up with gun laws for US civilians, or the President’s plans to arm teachers across the country and funnel more guns into our schools.
Sam has earned his advertising stripes with the best of them, as director and producer at Leo Burnett, Chicago, before moving on to VP, Executive Producer at Foote, Cone and Belding (Chicago) and Digitas, NY. With his keen understanding of both sides of the agency/production coin, Sam quickly earned not only a Cyber Lion, an Addy, an the selection into the Kansas City Film Festival, but most importantly the trust of his clients.
He recently signed with Above and Beyond Films for branded content.
