Michael Salce helps us cope with these wild times on this episode of YES, BRAND!
Rather than talk to someone in the ad biz or talk a fellow comedian off the ledge, I wrangled my friend, licensed Educational Psychologist Michael Salce, Ed.D., to spend a little time analyzing the current issues and anxieties we face in this political climate. Mike is Assistant Professor, Department of School Counseling and School Psychology, at Azusa Pacific University, and counsels patients aged 3 to 20. Given the lower end of this spectrum, I felt he could definitely handle my fears and sensibilities.
In truth, we spent a good deal of time talking about kids and what they might be thinking in times like these, when leaders elected and otherwise spout the same inflammatory rhetoric of drawing lines of “fire and fury” in the sand.
When not chatting with me, Mike is the coordinator of the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) program and an assistant professor in the Department of School Counseling and School Psychology. He has been teaching at Azusa Pacific University since 2010 and is also a practicing licensed educational psychologist working within the greater Los Angeles community, conducting psycho-educational evaluations, as well as working with families of children with emotional and mental health needs. Salce received his Doctorate of Education from the University of Southern California in Educational Psychology, and is also an alumnus of Azusa Pacific University, where he obtained his M.A. in School Psychology. He has been a practicing educational psychologist for the past 14 years, and he also consults with districts within the county of Los Angeles regarding the mental health needs of students who receive special education services.
Please welcome Michael Salce to this episode of YES, BRAND!
