If Jimmy Buffett and Warren Buffett had a kid…

Brian Curin
Ice cream. Cigars. Flip flops. Already, a picture is forming in your mind, and it’s enough to build a lifestyle around. In fact, if there were a job for people who bring chillout lifestyles to your doorstep, Brian Curin would be the guy for that job. Brian is a serial entrepreneur and franchising whiz. He’s also the President of Flip Flops Shops, an international chain of 100 stores, recently acquired by Cherokee Global Brands with plans to open 150 more. In his 20's, as the cigar market was about to explode, so Brian teamed with future ‘Apprentice' winner Bill Rancic to introduce fledgling aficionados to “Cigars Around the World”. He walked into the first Cold Stone Creamery and thought, “these should be everywhere.” He did the same in 2004 with Flip Flop Shops, which he immediately recognized as “The Sunglass Hut of flip flops.” Flip Flop Shops’ mission to help people “Free Their Toes®” has led to the brand's ranking for the fifth consecutive year on the Inc. 500 | 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies.
Here, we talk about healthy attitudes in business and life, why he’s never had a resume, and why he encourages his three daughters not just “to be” something, but also “to own” something.
